Hairless cats. opinions please?

hi. my neighbour has just bought 3 hairless kittens. i had never seen these before and i don't know what to make of them, to be honest, they look like rats! she actually paid �1500 each! for them. i find it totally ridiculous when there are cats in rescue centres that need homes, and she goes and pays loads of money for these without hair! apparently she says, that they can get sunburned in the summer and can get too cold in the winter. does anyone know anything about these hairless cats, and what is your opinion of them? i think it's a lot of money to pay for a cat when there are so many needing homes. but i suppose it's up to her. she's also got a cat that's a Bengal? at least i think that's what she said, it's a normal size cat, but she says they are wild??
