I turned on my laptop and there was an icon on the bottom right that I had not seen before. I have HP Total?

Care Advisor and it had a yellow triangle indicating there were updates on the Internet that I needed. A window appeared that said "Windows Internet Explorer" and that I had to optimize my computer. I thought ok. When I clicked on the link, Windows warned me with a "High" warning that I should not run the update. I didn't. Was this a worm or ...? Thanks.
